What Is Direct Primary Care
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a new spin on an old concept - healthcare that is truly about the patient. By bypassing the "middle man" (insurance companies) and using a monthly membership model, DPC physicians are able to provide patients with more comprehensive and individualized care.
Traditional (insurance-driven) medicine relies heavily on data collection and meeting measures that are dictated by non-physicians. Doctors in these traditional practices are also limited by low reimbursement rates from insurance companies. This means that these physicians must see a higher number of patients in a day and spend more time on their computers, ultimately leading to less time for the patient.
DPC Benefits
Cost effective
After-hours care
Longer, more personalized office visits
More direct physician access
Better care access through technology (video visits, text, email)
